Will Social Security Take Back The Payment My Dad Received In December If He Dies In December?
Hi. My mom was wondering about her social security benefits and my dads. My dad is 91 and is currently being treated by hospice. She was wondering if they received my dads social security check at the 1st of december and he passes away in the same month, will social security take back my dads benefits?

The answer to your question is no. The Social Security checks that were paid in December are for the month of November. Your father's check for the month of December will be issued in January, and that payment would need to be returned if your father were to pass away on or before December 31st.
