Will The Payment That My Father Received On July 1st Need To Be Returned If Hi Died On July 24th?
my father died on July 24th. His ss check was deposited on August 1st and than was taken back out by SS. Will the SS deposit he received on July 1st go back to SS ?
Hi. I'm sorry for your loss. Social Security benefits are rarely paid on the 1st day of a month, but I'll assume that the payment you refer to was your father's Social Security benefit payment. Anyway, Social Security benefits are not payable for the month of a person's death, but Social Security benefits are paid a month behind. Therefore, the benefit payment that your father received in the first part of July would not need to be returned because that payment was for the month of June, and since he lived throughout June he was entitled to keep that payment.
