Will My Husband's Earnings Increase His Benefit Amount?
My husband began collecting ss at full retirement 66. He continues to work contributing the max and will also for 2017 as he makes more than 127000. Will his ss benefit go up? I haven't seen a change this year.
Hi,
Yes, earnings of that level would definitely cause an increase in your husband's Social Security benefit rate. The increases are automatic, but the aren't always processed very timely. You could probably speed up the process of receiving the increases by submitting proof of your husband's earnings (e.g. W-2, IRS Schedule SE) and requesting a manual re-computation.
Best, Jerry
