What Is The Status Of The Social Security Disability Program?
What is the status of social security disability insurance? Is it going to be around? thanks
Hi,
The trust fund that pays Social Security disability benefits is projected to be able to pay full benefits through the year 2032 (https://www.ssa.gov/policy/trust-funds-summary.html). I firmly believe that the disability program will continue well beyond then, but Congress will almost certainly need to make some changes in the future in order to keep the program in sound financial shape. What those changes might be are anyone's guess.
