If Two People Are Expecting a Child Can Social Security Take Away Their Checks?

If two people are together and just found out they were expecting can social security take their checks

Hi,

Having a baby would not cause Social Security to stop paying checks to a person, nor would it prevent Social Security from stopping a person's payments for other reasons (e.g. recovery of an overpayment, excess earnings, etc.)

I don't know enough about your circumstances to be able to advise you, so you may want to check with Social Security if you have questions. Also, minor children usually qualify for Social Security child's benefits on the record of parents who are receiving Social Security retirement or disability benefits, so it sounds like you should look into that possibility once your child is born.

Best, Jerry
