Can I Draw Both Social Security And Railroad Benefits?
My husband worked for the BNSF for 32 years and is currently on disability. He will be 65 in four years. I will be 65 in five years. My question is - I have been working and earning my own income off and on for about 20 years. When I turn 65 can I draw SS and Railroad Retirement?

Potentially, yes, but not both benefits in full. Railroad benefits consist of 2 tiers. Tier 1 is a rough equivalent of Social Security, whereas tier 2 is like a company pension. If you are entitled to both Social Security and Railroad Retirement (RR) benefits, you'll receive your tier 2 RR benefit plus the higher of a) your Social Security benefit, or b) your tier 1 RR benefit.
