Can I Collect Off Of My Ex-Husband Now Or Do I Have To Wait Until I'm 62?
I was told I could collect social security off my ex husband since we had been married over 10 years and I never remarried. He passed away a couple months ago. Can I start collecting now or do I have to wait till I'm 62?

You don't mention your current age so I can't tell you whether or not you could be eligible for survivor benefits now. You must normally be at least age 60 to qualify for surviving divorced spousal benefits, although you can potentially qualify as early as age 50 if you're disabled (https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.04/handbook-0403.html). However, your benefit rate will be permanently reduced for age if you start drawing prior to your full retirement age (FRA).
